Carl, this one should be right up your alley. I was looking at Branchline Trains page for their models of Berwick boxcars. I noticed that their model has 612786 as its road number. All of the real ones I have seen were in the high 155000s and and low 156000s. They do not appear to have been renumbered. Did CNW get rid of its 612000 series cars? Are they actually XP cars and the 612000 series cars have been modified for hauling something that is not hauled out here? I just noticed that the model is an XF. I would think these would come out here since the 155000/156000 series load at tomato processing plants and powder milk plants.
Also, I have seen a few of the 155000/156000 series cars painted yellow. How many were painted this color? Are these repainted? Thanks for your help.
Do the models of the 612700 series have a logo plate on the door? These are former NSL cars from a couple of different series. And, yes, they’re still around. I don’t think I’ve seen any of them repainted yellow.
Many of the CNW’s original BFF cars did receive a coat of yellow paint in the 80s and early 90s.
Indeed they do have a logo plate, complete with logo, on the door. You can click on the link in my first post if you want to see Branchline Train’s BFF page.
I photographed CNW 612724 in red at Garrison, TX on July 20th at a sawmill- most of what is left of this series seems to have been dispersed all over the place. When CNW had them- they started out in food service, but then found themselves hauling bagged cement out of Mason City, IA for the most part.
