CNW HERITAGE UNIT.

WILL THE CNW HERITAGE UNIT EVER GO TO FREMONT OVER THE BLAIR SUB?
ALLAN.

Did you ask the UPRR in Omaha the question you posted?

Nope. Not realy. UP will not give that kind of info to Railfans anyway. I thought that someone on the forums would know. Oh well. Allan.

Its is supposed to run between Council Bluffs and Chicago for the next couple of weeks, then be released to run on the rest of the ex CNW trackage.

There’s no reason to think that it wouldn’t eventually go through Blair. But since UP doesn’t have manifests that originate and terminate in Fremont, that would have to be after it’s freed from its exclusive runs in CNW territory.

I haven’t seen the D&RGW unit yet, but all three of last year’s Heritage units have made it to Proviso since their initial tarp-covered trips through the yard. That should tell you something.

Well, I really think the CNW heritage unit will stay on the manifests that operate between Proviso and Omaha/Council Bluffs. To be a technical pain-in-the-ass… Blair wouldn’t be out of the question while still being designated to ex-CNW territory. There is the PRB. Nothing like dusty coal train to mess up that nice new shiny paint scheme.

Thanks guys. That means ill have to go all the way to Mo valley just to see it. That sucks.

in just 20 days you may see it in yer necker of the trees. itll be all over up in iowa[:)]

This sounds exciting. I’ve only been up to the UP transcon a handful of times in the past few years. Would this unit, say, in about 5 years or so, go down the BNSF on one of their trackage right routes? I assume these units will eventually spread throughout the entire UP system, which would include trackage rights, I suppose.
