Coal Train in Golden Light

Good day to all, I just posted a shot from from my resent trip to WY. Here is the link, have a peek. Happy rail fanning! [8D]

Interesting composition. The coal dust blowing illustrates the problem thus created when the dust accumulates in the ballast and requires greater MOW work. The BNSF-UP are wanting to either charge the utility companies more or have them spray a sealent on the load to keep the dust from blowing.

Also, the string of welded rail lying between the two operational tracks is either waiting to be laid or just removed from newer rail recently laid. Probably there is another string, unseen in this photo, on the opposite side of the track which has the train on it.

I agree–this shot very nicely illustrates the coal-dust problem. I’m not sure any other lighting would have done it so well.

And the picture itself…stunning!

(If I took a trip to Wyoming, there might be a little "resent"ment, too. I don’t think there are many quilt shops up where the good train sites are. But haven’t been there more recently than 2007.)
