Coalporters

Which Coalporters are better in all your opinions? I have some Athearn ones, but with Walthers, you get one more for the same price. Any input?

And does anyone know why Internet Explorer deleted all the text in the post the first time I posted it? (I’m posting this in Safari now.)

internet explorer is the worst browser in the www, use safari and avoid trouble. and as far as the bethgons, only occasionally a walthers car will be bowed from one end to the other, very slightly, you won’t be able to see it. If you apply pressure gently down in the center and up, under each truck, usually you can straighten the metal weight that runs the lenght of the car. Other than that the new Athearn cars are also more detailed. But I run em both anyway. total about 60 bethgons and 36 of the RD4s. Insist on the Goldline if you do get these or you may have trouble fitting them with metal wheels. I sent mine into Jerry at Walthers to show him how the P2K wheels didn’t fit. He couldn’t belive it.

Be aware that BLMA has announced the Top Gon cars coming out in the Spring of 2009. They also look pretty promising but are for Norfolk Southern only (which is fine for me). To your question, I have many of the Walthers and Athearn cars. I like both of them and can’t rate one highly over the other. Do note that the Athearn cars are 5 packs and include the coal loads. Walthers are 6 packs and do not.
