coast starlight hits tree

Yesterday northbound Coast starlight hit a tree in southern Oregon. In strange series of happenings hitting the tree apparently caused a mudslide which then derailed the baggage car. UP sent a loco to pull cars back to a location to board passengers on several bus. If a freight had hit tree one has to wonder depending on car type ??

I ride the Coast Starlight from southern CA. to Portland OR each Christmas. one train go’s up and one go’s down every day. The one going south hit a tree at night and damaged the engine enough that they had to get a UP engine to replace it. I was in the train going north, there was a 6 hour delay. They gave everyone a beef stew dinner.
