I’ve been looking for a Coca Cola box/cooler, the chest type (not the upright kind) common in the 1950s but haven’t found one. Anyone know who sells them in HO scale?
This would be the type that held soft drinks in bottles and the bottles were place into the box that contained cold water. Coke was about 5 cents each then…
Jarrell
JL Innovative makes chest coolers in several flavors decorated as above link. They make some really neat detail parts.

Walthers has one by JL Innovative Design on page 1004 in the Walthers catalog. I don’t see one for Coca Cola but maybe you could paint one.
Hope this helps! Jim
Jarrell,
Boy! Does that bring back some memories. Those things were GREAT as a kid! The upright ones were pretty cool, too…literally!. They always had the bottle rack to either side of the dispenser. An ice cold Nehi and a moon pie were sure hard to beat…

You’re dating yourself Tom. Of course, I’m not one to talk. I can remember when a coke cost 15 cents and a candy bar was a nickel.
me too . i remember getting a quarter a week for my allowance and saturday morning i’d be off to the store to pick up a coke , a chocolate bar , and a comic book . probably costs about $5 now
My family used to ahve a full size one. It went to the demo yard with my dad’s boat when my dad’s boat was sent away.
I used a JL innovative Design on my Service Station. I changed the 7-up sign (included) with a Royal Crown Cola sign by cutting it out of an old Walthers Catalog. The reference samples in the book just happened to be the right size I needed.
Here is a pic to show you how it came out:
This other Coke Box is a Fine Scale Miniatures casting, and was included in the kit:
Bob,
43 cents for gas?!? Whoa! You must have been the only gas stop for miles around…[swg]
Tom
Bob, it looks like you use a lot of JL Innovative details on your layout. I think that they are one of the hidden gems in the industry. I love their models as well. Do you have any of them on the layout?
