Code 83 crossing recommendations

Does anyone have any preferences, experiences, opinions (likes or dislikes) on code 83 crossings? I’ve tried both Atlas and Shinohara. Atlas tends to be a bit rough and noisy. The Shinohara is a bit better and more quiet.

Has anyone purchased a BK Enterprise crossing? I believe that they are custom made, yes? (Hence, why the price is somewhat more expensive than the others.)

Also, has anyone heard whether Peco plans to come out with any crossings in code 83?

Appreciate any input you might give me.

Tom

I personally don’t have any experience with them, but one of the members of my club was complaining about the quality of the Atlas code 83 crossings (45 degrees, I think). He had said that he spent a lot of time fixing the flangeways to get trouble-free operation on his free-mo module. Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about the crossings of other manufacturers.

I have the latest Peco catalogue in front of me. One of the products is a #6 diamond crossing. Actually, two of the products – it comes in both insulfrog and electrofrog. Cat # SL 8364 and SL E 8364, price at pounds 13.50 and 14.00.
The full range is #5 and #6 tunouts (LH & RH, insul and electrofrog), yard of flexible track, rail jointers, track pins and an inspection pit.
