Code 83 to Code 100 Track

I am installing a 3-way switch, which only came equipped with Code 83 track. The rest of my layout is Code 100. I have ordered the transition joiners from 83 to 100. What else should I do to make the track work as smooth as possible?

Easy…

  1. Install joiners on the cd100 track…
  2. Pinch the exposed end to create a ‘platform’ for the cd 83 to sit on
  3. Solder the cd 83 track to the platform.

Great advice!

SHINOHARA makes a 3 way Code 100 turnout under their own name, otherwise their 100 / 83 adapters make an effortless transition. MR recommended using a code 100 joiner, squashing it flat, and soldering a code 83 on it (Atlas makes a cheap version), but
while these account for height, they don’t account for the rail width differences that inside wheel flanges can pick.
.

Peco makes a 3 way in code 100 as well.

Thanks for the help. I am going to try the solder technique this time.
