I ordered a dozen of the TCC decals a few years back. I was not a fan of the Red and Black TCC paint. I found that the CNW Green and Yellow look much better for the TCC. On my TCC Branch line you can find Alco RS-420, RSD-4/5 then it moves into the new stuff like MP15, GP15, SD7 & 1 C44-9W. I will do a few caboose for my version of the TCC based on the Green and Yellow Main Central EV Caboose. I think the Green and Yellow CNW looks good as the new paint for the TCC. I also did the same thing and cut out copys of the decals to test fit and did a few photo shop edits to find a good color that is how I ended up with the CNW paint.
The only talking Cody did while painting these wheel sets is when he did the first (four) wheel sets. All the painting was actually done during closeups of the objects being painted; at no time could we or did we see Cody’s lips while he was doing the painting. While I do appreciate that he DID state the reason for not wearing breathing protection is that he would be talking while painting, he first of all, did very LITTLE painting while talking and second, the comments he made could have been added later by using the “voice over” ability of most recording/editing software now available.
It seems that a quick wipe of a thin oil like Wahl clipper oil on the axle points before painting would allow them to be simply wiped off afterward. The plexi unit looks to be much easier to use.
I had an interesting thought cross my head in seeing MR doing heritage units. It seems that an interesting way to remember the layouts one has operated on is to paint engines much like NS, Amtrak, and UP have done that didn’t run on the celebrated railroads at all. However, one exception in our case however might include a chance to paint an engine in the scheme of one’s freelanced railroad(or it could be real) that you had the opportunity to run on(past or present). I don’t know about anyone else, but for me that seems like the perfect opportunity to remember a railroad special to you even long after you or the layout is gone from the region you live.
Ok…whose RI geep is hanging around on the shelf?
And…scars from the bear mauling??
nice job Cody on the Heritage Fleet for the full list type in MR&T Heritage Fleet on the Video Plus website
