COFFEE POT #12 December 2010 for all to take a drink and chat. 5+ years and going. Plenty of coffee but also Christmas cookies and grits along with egg nogg and sweet ice tea.

John

You better not misplace anything! I know where you live!

Ray

Fife,

Do it. You know you want to.

Jack,

I was suprised because of how lackluster the 2200 four cylinder mated to the three speed auto seems. GM should have put the 3800 V6 in there. As to the rate of AF coming in, I am running of space in my room due to the stuff that is boxed up waiting for the Christmas layout. My room is small to begin with. Enjoy the new TV. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Samsung.

John,

If Ray ever sends any Northern Pacific PAs your way, I’d be glad to help you misplace them.[;)] The 490/492 that I got in this week came from Dayton, NJ.

Ray,

I don’t have a 316 yet, but I’ve got one 1947 SIT 312, one 1948 SIB 312, one 312AC that I am unsure of the date, and a 314AW without the control box. I do like the K5s.

I found out what was rattling in the 30B. When I pulled the back plate, I found one of the two screws and the related washers that holds the right throttle to the case. No problem, I’ll just put it back after I test it. Well, when I pushed the right handle down to lock it into the throttle, the other screw and washers let go and the throttle separated from the case accompanied by the sound of the parts hitting the inside of the base. Not good. The cause is that someone apparently tightened the throttle mounting screws too much and shattered the posts in the bakelite throttle. I emailed the seller, and I just spent $48.50 to get a NOS throtle a few minutes ago.

Good Evening

Well it did make 32, that was it.

I had some peach ice cream but there’s plenty of banilla for those waiting for the Tardis…S.J.

TGIF

Great week. Had great visits with Chuck and Wes.

Evening all

Wow did this past week fly by. Looking forward to the weekend. Hopefully going to get some decorating done, and some other stuff. I’m preaching this weekend too so that makes for an interesting time too.

Jim – Sorry for not getting back to you. The crossing gate is a 23601, I think, it is the one with the roadbed.

Jim F – Great news about Char, I will continue to her in my prayers.

Jack – Yes busy as a one armed paper hanger. Kids doing great. No bites on the house but not many buys houses around Christmas. Hopefully something after New Year. Bride is really watching the boxes at the door. I have pretty well wore out “this one is for the kids”.

John – I have bid on some of the AF clock work sets, they are neat. Have not seriously looked at the AF in O, .

SJ- We’ll be doing it again real soon!

Good evening everyone! Been a long day. Had a early case and got home about lunch time so I spent a few hours with my bride before picking up kids. Tonight we went to the Nutcracker Ballet at the local municipal auditorium. They did a good job, but it isn’t my cup of tea. After 2.5 hours, I had seen enough and just wanted to get home.

Chief, not sure if the federal government still is doing it, but I know they have/had some grants for the emergency operations/preparedness of local departments. My old department got a new rescue and a good amount of monies toward a rear mount stick. I am sure they have some folks more knowledgeable than I about such, but it would be worth checking into. Even if it is a matched grant, that is half the money.

Brutus, that is fantastic news! Please know that you and the whole family have been in my prayers and we look forward to continued progress to full health for Char.

I am beat, so I will try to check back later in the weekend. I did buy a Susquehanna caboose tonight. It will go well with my NYS&W RS3 that I picked up last year. I spent many days of my youth riding on Susie-Q rails and wandering through their yard.

God Bless,
dennis

Brutus - wonderful news! I’m sure everyone in your family is glad to have Char home.

Thanks guys! Touchdown! What a long, stressful, and happy day! Went to work until 11, then picked up some lunch to take to my wife in the hospital. They got her meds down and removed her pic line. Docs were all done about 2-ish but had to wait and wait. Finally discharged her at about 4:45. Then I took my daughter to her choic concert, picked up Char’s medicines, got some good food in her (grilled cheese sandwich), and spent about an hour sorting out her meds and stuff. What a long day!

SJ had the keys and took the Tardis out for me, so hope you guys all have a blast tonight. I’ll catch up with you tomorrow [:)]

Jim

Sorry, but I favor steamers. Besides the 316 I have a 1946 or 1947 312 SIT. Lately I’ve been on a kick of building a set from each decade. So far all but the teens and thirties are covered.

Ray

Brutus, you may have had a long day, but it certainly had a happy ending! That is fantastic news.

We have a lot to get to today. We are going to bring a bunch of new/like-new clothes and toys to the church as next week we are having a Christmas in the Park for an area we used to film the movie. It is one of the poorest areas of the city. Then, we have a birthday party, two parades, and whatever else SWMBO has ahead of us.

God Bless,

Dennis

Jim –

Great news for your family, what a blessing to be together under one roof again. Be sure and also take good care of yourself.

Good morning all,

I had a busy Friday night last night: I took the kids downtown for a Christmas carriage ride and some fun at the public library. After that I dropped off my daughter at the roller skating rink for a birthday party. While she was there, my 7y/o son and I hit the mall for some Christmas shopping and to play some air hockey. I bought a Dept. 56 Christmas Story building for half-price; it is the Chop Suey palace. The funny part is my wife’s parents and us ate at a Chinese restaurant last Christmas due to not being able to travel because of some snow and ice.

I’m off to the OKC train show now. I’ll let you know how it was later.

Joe

Lunch Time at Work,

Joe (Demay) At the Chinese restaurant last Christmas, was the head still on the duck and did the waiters get the words right for Jingle Bells. Christmas Story is my favorite Christmas movie. My Brother in Law, Ray, (AF53) favorite is It’s a Wonderful Life. I will bet that Ray did not know that I knew that. Last Christmas my wife got me a good portion of the Christmas Story Dept. 56 Series and Ray can attest to what his Sister is like when it comes to Christmas.

Navy Jack, we have a few thousand Fords in the fleet. We like the new Fords compared to other cars and light trucks and suv’s in the past. I had a 2002 Focus as a company car and it was redeployed when it had over 185,000 miles on it and I got a 4x4 Dodge Dakota pickup. The Focus is still going strong. We have had great service from them as well as the Escape, Explorer (some trans issues on earlier ones) and the Fusion. We have a few hundred Escape Hybrids and they have been just about trouble free. Ford has come a long way. Forget about the Fords out of the 70’s and 80’s.

Back to work,

John
