Coffee Pot #7 JULY 2012 SIX years [April 1 is Anniv.] and going strong and its for all to chat. Plenty of coffee and sweet ice tea for all. Come and join us and chat. GRITS for the Yankees

Sorry RT, woke up in time. New Pot for all to drink.

HOT. Not much Box work. Got to redo end of peninsula to make tracks and switches of switching yard align with the end already estabilished [not screwed down but as I want it. Actually go back to my original plan and make it longer.

Some storms poping up and hitting hard all around and up in VA.

Fife, glad you and the Pups are OK from last night.

See some bad stuff in Columbus OH. Hope Buckeye is OK. Haven’t had time to readed the old Pot to see if he has posted.

NC Air National Guard and its C130’s are in CO. to fight the fires.

Off to bed.

God bless and have a great month.

I got a little sleep but not much. Below is a photo of the paintball impact area after I cleaned as much as possible out of my hair and changed my shirt obviously. It was a very bright red paint. A partial bruise can be seen forming behind my eye. It hit between the eye and the ear just below my temple.

I have no idea who fired it, I didn’t even see anyone.

Morn- *okay…*so you’re telling me Wallyworld carries pink tutus in size 28…? [:S] Mornin’ boys. Partly cloudy and 78 in the Mid-Atlantic region. Learned we were lucky, as 900k lost power from storms. Homes across street still have no juice. Spent several hours picking up and bagging downed sticks. Then when I wasn’t looking, FifeMax spent several minutes tearing open the bags and scattering what I had done. Then I spent several seconds disciplining the dog. Now I’ll spend several days hearing from Wifey about my technique…

Good Morning

65F going up to 82F in the sunshine…

Going to spend a somewhat lazy day working on the layout…in my new duds…[:D]

fife: I have no idea where these people get their tutus…all I know is that we have seen tutu wearers up here…and weirder…[*-)][+o(]

Jeff: Hope this stuff gets dealt with…and soon!!

Good Mornin’ Ya’ll From Crystal Clear Cape Ann Taxachusetts,

More of the same “heat forecast” for today from here…will hit 90+ again. A/C is getting quite the workout. Many further South down the East coast like Fife’s neighbors were not so lucky with the weather yesterday, especially in HudsonJohn and Rich’s NJ neck of the woods. Some may be without power for the next few days during the heat wave, when they can ill afford it.

Brutus… your plate is quite full with your Mom and Dad. [angel]You have my prayers that the family can weather these new obstacles. Be thankful you are close by to help out as best you can. I wish I could say the same with my family.

**BOC…**hang in there, buddy. [angel] The advantage of your new slim and trim look is that your really don’t have to buy any new clothes to have that “pants hanging off your butt” fashionable look that the rest of us are sporting. [:-^]. Add a backwards baseball cap and you are good to go. [swg] BTW…shave your head like Fife does. [(-D] Could tatoos be next? Prayers for a complete recovery continue. [angel] I need to sign your cast too.

**Jeffrey…**an inch or two made the difference between hitting your eye or not. Prayers you are doing OK.[angel]

**DougM…**I realize that an automotive A/C repair can get expensive.[banghead] But it sure beats replacing the vehicle that is otherwise servicing you quite well. I had to replace the compressor (worn bearings) and idler pully ar

Aloha. [ip]. Sunny here again. We had more thunder overnight. No rain. Parade today after church, party in the afternoon and then fireworks. After sitting in the sun all day yesterday, I may not last until dusk. [;)]

I completely agree, Jack. I’m one of those who drive the wheels off a paid-off vehicle. Since I’m the only one who drives it (ie the wife never gets behind the wheel anymore), I’m letting it go a bit. Brutus, glad your dad is getting help. Prayers for your continued recovery, BoC. Going to Wal-Mart late at night is a surreal experience I try to avoid.

Good morning. It’s 80° and partly cloudy. The high will be 95° with a 20% chance of rain. The expected heat index will be about 104°.

I thought about calling in a report on the paintball shooting yesterday but report what? All I remember is getting tagged. There was a dust cloud on the other road from where a vehicle had gone past apparently quite fast. I didn’t see the vehicle, only heard it. Crunching gravel, loud pipes, loud music. That describes 90% of the vehicles out here, cars and trucks. I don’t even have a color. There’s a bunch of pine trees between the roads so unless you’re looking more or less straight across you’re not going to get a real good look. But I’m going to keep an ear tuned for those pipes. I don’t care what type of vehicle you have, how big or small, what color, every vehicle has a unique sound. You can change the color and appearance but unless you change out the exhaust system and re-tune the engine that sound is going to be the same.

Going to mow the parents yard today IF the tractor doesn’t decide to have a Murphy attack and the heat doesn’t get to be too much too fast. That’s a problem sometimes in this part of the country. Sometimes it heats up slowly and other times it’s a bang-on full heat wave before 11 am.

Oh yeah, the headache is gone.

Hot

I had a nice chat with Brutus and John last night,we had lemon ice cream instead of banilla. No plans for today, Yet. I gotta find something for breakfast…S.J.

88 Degrees at 9:30 today HOT and humid.

Played with ARs and the SKS with the future SIL yesterday. My ears are still ringing even with ear protection. [{(-_-)}]

Got me a huge male Raccoon last night around 3:00am. [:-^]

I got my retirement direct deposit so time to do bills. [:(]

Close call Jeffery glad your going to be ok.

Prayers for those in need. [angel]

Have a good day guys.

Morning all. Hot. Soakered Pam’s tomatoes this AM. Everything else was watered good yesterday PM. Being lazy this AM.

Church TV singing America the Beautiful.

Glad the Fife Pack made it through OK.

No news from “Bridge” and CO. ??? Prayers there.

Blown, prayers for recovery. Yes, slick that head. Everyone will think you are law enforcement.

Later.

Good morning all, can’t believe no none else posted on here except the Chief this morning. Off to train meet now.

later,

Ray

Well it’s 88, feels like 103. I got the grass cut and got overheated in the process. Now I feel like crap not that I felt all that great earlier. I’m sitting back getting hydrated as best I can. Got the laundry done. The T-shirt I was wearing yesterday STILL has a big bright red stain on the left shoulder. It’s latex paint, I could tell tell from the smell and it doesn’t wash out. So there’s a T-shirt that can be put in the tool box to be used as a cleaning cloth. That ticks me off so much! I’m on a very tight budget due a very small fixed income. Only a small part of that is for clothing. You try getting along on a hair under $700 a month. I do it but it ain’t easy. I think I’ll go crash now.

I let the Sheriffs Dept know what happened out here yesterday and put in a patrol request. Just maybe they’ll catch the person, most likely not.

Good Afternoon

I’m working away down in the basement with a few new yards to put together…

83F feeling like 88F…so far…

Well, we are back to normal after being out of elect power for 36 hours. Two days of sweating, no shave, etc. That won’t happen again! I have contacted three installers of stand by generators. It will cost about $6500 but we earned it. At our age we have the money. Why leave it to the kids. They will get plenty as it is.

Any one have a stand by generator? I am considering a Generac Guardian 20,000 watt propane unit.

Pat

Pat,

We have a back up gen set but it is only 5000 watt. I got the gen for free it did not work. Come to find out it was low on oil and tripped the oil alert switch. I also installed a manual transfer switch that can take 7,000 watts or 30 amps in the basement that will carry 10 circuits. The 5,000 unit can not run them all at once but it will run the refrigerator, and some lights and the TV at the same time. If I swap out circuits we can keep the well pressure up and the water hot or furnace running. But this 5,000 unit will not run the AC. But I only have $250 in the whole job.

You need to figure out what you need to run and size from there. Your contractor should be able to advise. 20,000 watt sounds like it could do a lot to me.

I would like to have ours run it on LP but it is a gas unit It will run 9 hours on a tank.

I would love to have an auto start unit but this is a lot better than nothing.

Good afternoon everyone. Today is a somber day for me. This is the anniversary of a fire that killed five guys I worked with. It was 24 years ago, but I can remember the events as if it were yesterday. We did have a great morning service at church and a good Sunday School. Tonight, our church sponsors an event called “Freedom Fest”, it is out at the park that the church owns. Plenty of great things to do, military demonstrations, etc., Then, tonight will be fireworks. I cannot go as I am on call. Can’t take the chance that I would get stuck in traffic.

Did some work on the layout last night. Have only a few things that will take about a day each to complete and then it will be done…for now.

Pat, that is the way to go, propane and a large enough unit to handle your needs. Certainly, you want to be able to run trains! but if it lights some lights and keeps the refigerator cool, you will be good. Just remember to test it out once a month.

Jefferey, glad you called the sheriff. If they keep it up, they could cause an accident, or may graduate to more damaging firepower. The more information the Sheriff has, the better their shot at getting him/them. We had someone shooting drivers with a pellet gun.

Well, we have plenty of heat here, but at least we have AC. May take the family out to a movie and just hope that I don’t get called in. The theater keeps it cool, so it might be a good event.

God Bless,
Dennis

Jeffrey, good grief! Getting shot with a paint ball? What the heck is going on. Hope they catch the idiots who did it. They will get their’s sooner or later. They will keep it up til they get caught.

Went to train meet today. Lots of stuff for sale except the one thing I was looking for which was a plastic version of the Lionel girder bridge. I’m using just the sides of them to make a bridge on my layout. I got two from a prior sale for $5 each. I saw one today and the guy wanted $9 so I passed. No big urgency to get these. I will find one sooner or later in a junk box.

Stayed a couple of hours at the meet and decided to go home. Got some gas on the way for 3.59 per gal. down from a high of 4.25 a while back.

Planning on ground sirlion burgers with corn on the cob tonight from the grill.

later,

Ray

It’s 91

I stayed inside today. Just read that Chuck and Buckeye are without power. I hope they go somewhere out of the heat. Hopefully they will be powered up soon. I was gonna post later but now will work. I am waiting for granny to get home from church so we can make banana splits. It’s ok I had no supper. If it cools down I will sit on the porch if not, well here I am…Jeffrey calling the police was the right thing to do. Maybe they can catch these punks. …S.J.

There were three paint balls. Only one hit me. The others caught the edge of the door and splashed my shirt and some of the upholstery and splattered on the door.
