COFFEE POT #8, for all to take a drink and chat. Welcome all posters. 4 yrs old and still going.

Good morning all,

It is a mixed bag of weather today (typically Hoosier). Yesterday was a much, much better day. Work went well, the city picked up all the bush trimmings (although the stumps still make the yard look like Utah beach on D-Day), and I got to practice two hours with “my” soccer girls. I also did weights at the YMCA. I was tired but it was “soccer” tired. Bob, sounds like you have had an interesting few days with the ticker. Take care. My Norwegian soccer friend is here!!! She left a voice mail for me yesterday, but I could not get back to her for a variety of reasons. I left a message at the place where she is staying and hopefully we will talk today. Tonight is more soccer and we are having a plumber over to fix several minor issues. Again hopefully all will go well. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning. Beacon is lit. Whose turn is it to drive? Brutus, you do not have to drive until your wife gets better unless you want to. Prayers going out to all who need them (and there seems to be more and more need for them). I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

OK, Let me see if I can remember all that stuff (Jack, really need your “Cliff Notes” of the Pot).

Chief, glad to hear the direction they are looking regarding your FIL. Hope it works out and they can jump on that right away.

Charlie, congrats on 7 years! Now don’t get the “itch”, just stick with it and know that it is where God wants you to be.

SJ, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 70 is not that old, so long as you don’t sit idle. I have seen more octogenarians with an active life style than 50 year olds who’s only activity is getting up 3 times a night to empty the bladder. Hey, look at GHW Bush, jumping out of an airplane at 85!

Fife, glad you found West Marine early in your boating career. Only problem, they are like the train hobby, more desires then cash in the pocket to pay for it all.

Bob, don’t worry about the long posts from time to time. When it is something as important as your health, or those you love, you will find an attentive ear here. That is what makes this such a special place. Glad you stick with your MD. When one finds a good one, it is best to stick with them as they know you and know your history, so that they can put things together in a more informed method.

Brutus, continued prayers for your bride and for those caring for her. Also, prayers for you and the family that you are able to deal with all her needs as well as the needs of the rest of the family. This is one of those things that you all go through it together.

May God meet you at your needs,
Dennis

Morning. No need for soaker hoses now. Inches of rain. Flash flood warnings. Will have to check the pond later. “Girls” getting ready to go to hospital to visit their Dad. Things to do [including trains]. May rain into tomorrrow. Garden jumping and happy. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes for FIL. Chat later. God bless all.

Good Morning All,

Glad to hear that your FIL is doing better and has a positive prognosis !! Great News !!

Special prayers for BRUTUS and his wife today! Sure hope you get a lot of GOOD news !!!

[angel][angel] [angel] [angel] [angel] [angel] [angel] [angel]

Every morning when I do Bible readings. Then everytime I think of her during the day. I know this is going to do the “trick”. All of us praying for her is a strong thing.

Chief, I am adding my prayer for your FIL as well. Sounds like things are going in the right direction.

Prayers also for Brutus’ wife and the others with medical problems.

Back to my usual routine this morning. Still cool and partially cloudy. Went for my two mile walk and feeling pretty good. My out of town son will return today from Oregon. Flying into Burbank, then Metrolink to our neck of the woods. I will pick him up at train station tonight. Been staying up too late this week. Late night shows not as interesting since Leno left. Conan does’nt do anything for my interest. Letterman is getting stale so I have to find something new to watch. Went out in garage this morning to check TV in there to see if it is digital or what. Well, it’s not so will need a converter box if I want to use it. I usually just use it for playing video train tapes for our meetings out there. BTW spotted a tape beside the TV, stuck it in and low and behold, it was a beautiful tape of N&W articulated engines in color. Great tape and railroad!

Laz, thanks for the complement on my engine picture. I have over 30 but no place to park them all. A roundhouse with garden tracks would be nice but I don’t have the room.

Ray

Afternoon all. Moving a series of offices today. After all our practice and planning, of course it’s full of screw-ups. Praying for Brutus and Mrs. Brutus today and Chief’s FIL. [bday] Sir J!! May you enjoy many more! Bob, glad you’re still with us after your BP ordeal. Jon, quite a ride into WI, how far east did you go? Dennis, there aren’t any hobby stores in all of Beaufort County or Hilton Head. Nearest is in Savannah. Believe me, I thought of taking a boat over there when we visited. Happy Anniversary Charlie! Ray, what a beautiful layout - i love that Seaboard train!

SJ … HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY !!!

Chief … sorry I missed the post on your FIL … prayers made buddy …

Fifedog … will surely contact you on some rail ventures down there when we get to go next time … for sure . Never saw so many huge and maxed out pickup trucks driving nutzy in one place for a long time … [:-^] Had quite a few boats in my past … would like to get a Boston Whaler … just have to get it by the wife … I figure I can use it in Florida also … if I ever get to move there … [sigh]

SJ Happy Birthday hope you have many more.

Brutus had your wife in prayers all day hope you got good news for a change.

Chief Prayers for your FIL I missed the post but see its in need.

And prayers to who else needs them like SPman

SPman I’ve been having up and down BP myself the past few weeks so got the VA to give me a PB test kit so I can check it regularly and record it for my Doctor.

Hope all doing well.

Have fun in Hilton Head Dennis.

Talk to you all later

Pam just called. FIL is responding to meds. They still think it is a “tick thing”. Thanks for the prayers. Did the Town Hall thingy. Ate lunch and then watched a movie I had DVR’d and rested. Seemed good not to have to be busy. Took Lucy and Burg out. Raining again. Chat later.

Evenin’ All.

Good news on FIL Chief. [tup]

Fingers and everything else crossed for Jack & Jim. [angel]

And a very [bday] to Sir James. Shucks, had I known sooner I could maybe have sent him one of those “Kitty Litter Kakes”. [:o)]

[|(] Gas is up to $3.00 ! [banghead]

Later all, gotta go check the oven. [C=:-)]

Sunny and warm here in the Ol’ Pueblo. Went to my regular doc today and filled her in on recent events. I think most of the folks in the office were like “wow”. Well she wants to do another test or two and I imagine the cardiologist will as well, but it doesn’t sound like the altitude of the scope will be a problem once we get the medication levels figured out. She said I’d probably end up staying on a low level amount, prob due to family history. I can live w/ that, quite literally. Today I actually felt somewhat near normal. Maybe that light at the end of the tunnel. isn’t a train coming the other way after all. Thanks to all for the input and encouragement. Needless to say, this has all been a little disconcerting. Sir James - Happy Birthday! Ole Timer - you had me laughing out loud w/ your birthday post for SJ. Where did you find that? SPman - that’s a heck of a line up! Chief and Brutus - prayers for you and the family dwiemer - you might be interested to know I dropped off a photo of the scope at the frame shop for my doctor’s office (the same cnw1995 found on the web). Had it for a while for this purpose and this seemed a good time to finish this little gift off. They have been very accommodating of my crazy schedule over the years. Well hopefully tomorrow I’ll have my regular laptop back. This mac I am borrowing tends to run the posts all together. Plus it’ll nice to have more than one set of socks. A lot of my stuff is interned in the blazer at basecamp and one of the guys will bring it back in tomorrow. Well off to dinner, not KFC either. Hopefully chat on the regular computer next time. Bob

Sir J does not have birthdays. He is too old to count them. [:-^] Will ship him a 25 lb bag of GRITS. That will make him feel younger.

[bday] Sir. J [bday]

Reminds me of a joke.

Old couple was drivng down the highway. Saw a billboard with EXLAX, makes you feel younger. So they stopped at the next store and the old man bought some. They ate a “square” each. UMM chocolate candy. “Feel any younger”, asked the old man? Wife says, “No.” “Well lets eat somemore”, says the old man. So they do and drive on. After a while the old man says, “Feel any younger?” Wife replies, “No but I just did a childish thing!” [(-D]

Later

Submmbob … dl’d a bunch of them a long time ago … can’t remember where … have a bunch of real funny ones I use on another forum … but they won’t fly here … [:-^] I had to get a B-Pressure monitor … found out caffeine , especially salt and chocolate elevated it way up there . Hope they get it down … good luck buddy … took them over 7 months to get me the right meds … [banghead] … now it’s great .

Chief … [swg]

Good Evening

I had a nice suprise today, Around noon time in walks my two youngest grandsons with big ole grins and a big bag of hot White Castles. Well we sat down and had a big lunch. Needless to say No supper for me. Had a little banilla though. Lots of guys on chat tonite. All is well…S.J.

Oh Chief thanks for the grits we sure can use the pot hole filler.

Evening all!

A hot one here again today. Summer is IN.

Sir J - Happy B-Day!

Chief - continued prayers for your FIL.

Jim - continued prayers for your wife.

Boat trailer wheel hub seals throwing grease. Hauled it over to the dealer - looks like they will all have to be replaced. Still in warranty so no cost except for hauling the thing across town.

Daughter started new job for the summer as the last place kept promising her X number of hours per week and then would call the same day and tell her not to come in. New job promised 19 hours this week and so far so good - they are holding up their end of the deal.

Son off this week on mission trip to Louisianna coast for continuing hurricane Ike cleanup (or was it Rita?). They built some stairs to a house yesterday and tore down a water damaged equipment shed today on the property of some older folks who do not have the ability and cash to do this themselves.

Looking forward to week of July 4th when I am taking some much needed time off.

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Supposed to stop raining for a couple of days. I’ll believe it when I see it. No rain for now though.

Cooked on the gas grill tonight, pork chops beaten with sage, more pork chops painted with honey & mustard, grilled vegies and pan fried potatoes. Dry red wine to wash it all down.

Ran the string trimmer after dinner. Amazing how much better it runs with fresh gas! Got an odd insperation while I was working around the garage too. My garage is an old carrage house with vertical ceader siding. Painted it about 5 years ago and it needs it again this year. While I was trimming, I ran the line trimmer up on to the siding. Knocked the paint right off! So I ran it a little further up the siding - cleaned it ready to prime! So now I’m thinking how to use the string trimmer to scrape paint rather than a scraper. The string trimmer is really clumsy to use on a vertical surface. Maybe a string trimmer head and my angle grinder…

Prayers for those in need.

Thanks for the follow up RT. Think I can track it down from that info.

SJ - happy birthday. It was one of those milestone zero types after all.

Happy Birthday SJ [bday]!!![bday]

Your a good friend and I wish you the very best on your 70th Birthday…many…many more to come!

Here is SJ playing trains with my son…
