Collecting INDUSTRIAL RAIL O-27 Cars

I’ve been collecting the Industrial Rail line of O-27 cars for about a year. At first, I collected one of every car in the road names I was interested in and finally thought I had all the cars I wanted. However, while scanning through EBAY I noticed that several cars of the same Industrial Rail part number had different numbers stenciled on the car, many having 3 to 4 different numbers. These are great O-27 cars and great fun to collect, being out of production, and with the added challenge of identifying and collecting all the different numbers for any given car. Below is a list of cars in my collection.

George, these are not all my IR cars… but these are numbers/and or cars not on your list that I have:

NYC Pacemaker Box Car also 174479
BN Box Car 199250
BNSF Box Car also 730762, 730572
Norfolk Southern Box Car 90389, 90371
UP Double Door Box 134699
PRR Dble Door Box 74043
C&O Dble Door Box 6814
ART Reefer 29047
PRR/REA Box Car 5769
Chessie Gondola 370479, 370500
Chessie Hopper 26621 (this is in another number too but I redid it to CSX)
NKP Box Car 16597
PRR Tank Car 498599 (this is in another number too, but I repainted it to PC)
ADM Tank Car 30180
NW Work Caboose 1698
B&O Flat Car 8955

I have most of what is on your list in same numbers, so I didn’t repeat those. I know the NYC Pacemaker is also in another number, but I made a PC post-merger out of it. I know I had that one in 4 different numbers at one time. I’ve also repainted a load of others into Conrail, CSX and Norfolk Southern, so I can’t say what those original numbers were.
I remade my NW Work Caboose into a NS Work/Crane Car. I added other decals, but I believe I left the original car number on it. I had several NYC Hoppers that became Penn Central, so I don’t recall original numbers on those. I’ve repainted quite a few B&O flat cars too. The one I listed is the only one I haven’t redone. I have others too, but the ones above were the easiest to find.

Yes, I know, I have too many trains.

Here is a list I have not updated since December of 2000:
