Collector item or not?

I have recently purchased a John Deere train set from Wal-Mart, it is a HO scale (1/87th) with a preassembled: F7A locomotive with dual flywheels, 40’ grain car, 40’ flatcar with 2 model “B” tractors, tank car, caboose, UL listed 16V power supply, & a 14 piece oval of easy to assemble roadbed track.
John Deere Model ‘B’ Express is the name of it & I was wanting to know if anyone knows if this will be a collectors item before I open it & play with it?

This question can probably be best answered by someone on the Model Railroader forum. This group, CTT, is most familiar with O-gauge trains.

Not likely, and certainly not soon. Mass produced HO does not usually become collectable as far as the train aspect is concearned. The John Deer name may have some value to people who collect those items, but again it is way too soon to tell. Wait 30 years.
