Collision on the E&N!!!!!

VIA RDC 6148 collided with a loaded gravel truck near Chemainus, BC Wednesday around 10 in the morning on the northbound trip, completely destroying the cab on the lead end of the car. Only minor injuries. VIA 6135 is the only operational RDC on the E&N right as the 6133 has too many parts missing. The 6148 will most likely be brought down to Victoria this afternoon on the back of the Duncan Turn.

[:O] that means, like… 1 of there 6 locomtives is toast?

What a shame. I hate to hear this. [:(]

The RDCs are limited in number. I am not sure how many are left but they are a piece of history. And it is a shame to hear of one being wrecked. I am glad the injuries were only minor.

Stupid driver. I don’t know how much a ticket for the driver will be but I hope it is enough that the stupid idiot won’t ever do anything like that again.

WHEN will people learn? [:(!]

Wow, that’s really too bad, I wonder how this will affect passenger travel…

Is VIA going to find some RDCs from somewhere else, or are they going to pull a passenger coach behind a rail america loco for a while?

I hope everything works out, I would hate to see that passenger service cancelled.

VIA 6148 will be repaired. It will be out of service for 3-4 weeks while they hack up the 6133 to repair it. For the mean time RDC1 6135 will be handling the passenger trains. When the freight crew brought 6148 back today it looks as if they had to cut the gravel truck free.

The other side is fine. This is looking at the same end.

Wow
hope they get it fixed soon.people are always in a hurry.[:(]
stay safe
Joe

Good to see the damage isn’t as bad as I was thinking.
Hope everything goes well.

It looks like it can be repaired did you get a shot of the truck was it loaded and can it run again.

Don’t know about the truck, as I shot the 6148 when it was brought back to Victoria after the accident.
