Colt Industries, switcher

This loco might make an unusual item on the lay out.

Columbia Missouri is about 20 miles off the main line and Colt Industries has their own switcher. there is also a dinner train that operates out of their fenced yard with push/pull F8s for power.

I was on vacation and when I came back Photo Bucket seems to have changed their format. I hope the photos transfer.

First COLT is not a industry. Its a shortline.

The Columbia Terminal railroad is owned by the City of Columbia and is operated by Columbia Water & Light…Make no mistake it a fully functional shortline.

This was originally a Wabash branch line then later a N&W branch then sold by the NS…

My Bad.

It’s still a nice little switcher.

There is also other industries called Colt that are in the wood business in my area.

With COLT on the side of the engine it does sound like a industry of some type.

I just happen to be a short line junkie…[:O]

I also remember the Wabash’s Columbia Branch “A Railroad You Can Model” article in MR back in '66…

Another great use for a SF style Topeka Cab.
There will be a Cab & Nose set available some time, & it is going to be molded by Railflyer Model Prototypes. If you Google HO Topeka Cab or go to Railflyer’s site you can see the samples.

Here is more info on the “Topeka Cab” I mentioned before…

Pre-release samples for QC…

Although I am not affiliated in any way with this I have reserved/preordered some…

Why?
I have really enjoyed using their other products, not many folks can do Proto 87, but these parts are in that class!
No other model can touch that!!!

EDIT: And I thought my Python & Gold Cup came off those trains pictured above!!! (Wrong Colt)!

I saw Colt Industries and remembered that is the outfit that took over from Fairbanks Morse. I expected to see a H10-44, not a Topeka cab GP7.

Never knew the City of Columbia bought FM…

In this case COLT=Columbia Terminal Railroad or COLT for short.

Sounds more like the gun maker then anything.
