Command 2000

Hi guys,

I just bought an MRC command 2000 dcc systemat my local train show for $20 (brand new in box). Anyway I just wanted to know if there are any things I should know about the system (what not to do, etc.) and what type of decoders I should use with it since it is such an old system. Thanks for your help!

Check the MRC web site at this link:

It was cheap because it’s obsolete.

It has 14 speed steps. So modern decoders need to be set down to 14 speed steps.
I had static problems with one of mine. Every time a tiny spark jumped from my fingers to the unit it would flake out and have to be reset. I grounded the case and the problem went away.
My favorite option on that unit is the remote throttle. That lets me control 5 locos at once without switching between channel A and B.
