Common Genesis (athearn) Problems?

Both of my Great Northern F7’s (one A one B) have excellent see throguh girlls, but they keep bending out of place and you can see some of the glue marks. Ways to solve this other than glue?

I have come across other Genesis F7s with the same problem, and the only fix seems to be a small dab of ACC (although there may be better glues out there).

not f7 but 4-6-2 genesis light pacific. drive gear just spin on the axle. new drive wheel asembly on order 6 month ago. no word yet cept that we are on the list to get it. it not mine. it belongs to my freind jeff. hes ready to throw it in the trash and get somethin else. pisses him off cause it cost almost $200 and was broke out of the box

This problem pops up due to the models being out in the cold(Minnesota, right), then back in the warmth. The glue pops loose. Use same ACC to reattach them I have this happen only once, but a friend who transports his to the club has had lots of grills pop loose. Something that can happen with metal and plactic surfaces bonded together…

The Genesis 2-8-2 Mikado, Athearn’s first steam engine, suffers from a cracked gear on the drivers, and a replacement has been “On Order” by Athearn for over 2 years now, with no word on when one may ever be available.

That’s my locomotive he’s referring to there and as stated, I’m about ready to chuck it in the trash. Will I buy another Athearn Genesis steamer? NO!

Yo, Jeff. Toss it my way. I need something to practice re-gearing on.[:D]
