Commuter car vs F40 Cra***est-WOW!

Did anybody else catch the video of the cra***est (I beleive it was done on Thursday)-I only caught it once I beleive on CNN–an improved commuter car was run at 30 mph head on into a stationary F40 with two hopper cars probably with ballast-bam!!! basically just a hard coupling and off the whole lash up went right down the rails-Amazing. They showed the previous test-as one might expect…commuter car rides up on sitting loco, accordians, derails, rolls etc - . Granted it wasn’t 5 SD90s and 100 cars doing 65 mph but nothing could survive that… Thinking about it, it was a fairly realistic test-you often hear about the stray/slow local switcher with a couple of cars that was on the wrong track/didn’t clear the main in time and gets run over or the last couple of cars that didn’t clear the switch. I hope the video is floating around the internet somewhere…

I saw it! that was pretty cool

YEAH I saw that to and it looked pretty cool to see something like that. I guess from what the news said is that the railroads are trying to improve commuter train safety by putting something like airbag buffers on the end of each car in the case of an accident with another train and when they would hit hard enough the air bags would depoly and save all of the lifes of the people on board the train.
