I’m considering buying a spray booth and I’d like to know what people think of their purchased/commercial spray booth (Paasche, Tamiya, Pace, Badger, Micro Mark, Artograph, Gunze). What size did you buy? What features do you like and dislike? Is it big enough for what you paint? I model in HO scale. Do you get a lot of spray escaping from the booth? Are the filters expensive, easy to replace? Have you made any modifications to it to make it more useful? Please, no replies with DIY booths. I’m not interested. Thanks for your help, Jeff
Testors made one that I bought a long while back. It has an exhaust fan and filters. It also has a place tp mount a light in the top if desired. I think it’s MSRP has gone through the roof but you might find one on an auction site somewhere.
I suggest if you build one of your own don’t get overly ambitious and make it too big as I have seen done. Get a computer cooling fan and some dryer vent material,
I have the Paasche 22-16 and love it!!! Check your PM for more. A few guys here mentioned it and got me to look at it hard. Great for HO rolling stock and most buildings (that will be the largest thing you’ll put in there). I like the enamels (Floquil and Scale Coat) and it works just fine for that.
I did build it just a little different than the plans showed (ask me if you get one) and I caulked the interior back 4 seams (should do for any brand). I also caulked the seam where the fan meets the booth. Good duct tape on all the joints for the duct work.
