Completed project layouts

Has anyone out there completed or even partially completed any of the various project layouts or “Railroads you can Model”, etc. seen in Model Railroader over the years.
I have seen many interesting track plans and layout ideas, but have never seen an update or picture from someone who has attempted to build one.

Some of the small switching layouts are of particular interest to me.

Sorry, I always do my own thing…

I too have wondered the same thing. I sometimes see the projects in MR and think I might finally build a new layout and use one of those plans. In the past though, I have had that thought and then it totally flips to doing my own, but not coming out as well as I planned lol. But as the years progressed, I have become better and think, since I"m limited on space right now, I might tackle one and actually finish it. But I’m on a college budget, so I might have to stick to “arm chair” model RRing.

I think most just use them as giudeposts to building thier own layouts. Even if they use the same track layouts I’d bet that they used their own choises for scenery and buildings and such. Thats the way I’ve always viewed them as.

There was only one “railroads you can model” that I ever wanted to do verbatum and that was Malcomn Furlows HOn3 “San Juan Central” which is I believe now out of print and hard to find. I would love to try that one in On30 if I had another spare room.
