Many years ago someone produced a computer program that would print out car movements and switch lists for your layout. You has to enter data for all your cars and all your on-line industries, etc. Before starting an operation session you had to request a specific number of car movements and the program was supposed to print was bills based on the data you provided. The program did not work all that well and was rather crude in that it was written in Basic and required a lot of data for each car.
The qustion is – does anyone produce such a program today that is compatable with todays operating systems?
Try this web site for ShipIt, a neat program for generating switch lists.
There are quite a few manufactures of these programs. Be sure to check out ProTrack before you make a decision.
ClinchValley - do you have a link for ProTrack?
Thanks.
Andrew
The link for Protrak is: www.protrak.cc/

As the old advertising slogan used to say, “You’ve come a long way, baby!” The same could be said for software as applied to model railroad ops.
Off the top of my head, the ones I can think of in order of perceived (subjective) complexity, most involved to simplest along with links (if I have them) to their sites are:
ProTrack http://www.protrak.cc/
Interchange
Ship-It http://www.albionsoftware.com/html/ship_it_.html
RailOP http://railop.com/
Quaker Valley http://www.quaker-valley.com/qvsoftw.html
The last one offers software to print out car cards/waybills if you prefer using those.
Im sure there are others, as well as probably some simpler(?) to use/learn ones or even shareware programs for operations. Just Google around and see what else you may find.
Finally, there are also discussion groups for most ops software mentioned above at yahoogroups.com, where you can get help, advice and tips from other users.
