Con-Cor and ROWA

I have 4 UP corrugated passenger cars ( N Scale) that came in boxes with see-thru plastic lids.

There are oval Con-Cor labels on the boxes and the cars are in plastic open-ended sleeves. The

cars have ROWA and “Made in Germany” on the bottom.

Are these cars a correct item for this boxes ? Would someone know when these might have been

made and if they have any value ?

Thank you for any help.

ConCor imported several N scale corrugated passenger cars mftd by Rowa. I believe I got mine about 1975-1980. I believe some or most of them are based on a C&O prototype. There were plans and photos of the prototype cars 25 years ago or so, I think it was in a magazine called Railroad Modeler, NOT to be confused with Kalmbach Publications’ Model Railroader.

Value? I plan to use some of the cars as stand-ins for similar Santa Fe streamlined cars, when I get my layout running. It’s either that or brass car sides for special prototypes. I do not think they have “special” value but would be worth 7 or 10 bucks apiece to a modeler who doesn’t insist on the newest $39.95 cars.

The description sounds rather similar to sone N scale cars Model Rectifier imported around 199-70. The 1977 Terminal Hobby Shop catalog (Walthers retail outlet at the time) showed the Con-Cor had four smooth side passenger cars (coach, baggage, observation, dome) and five corrugated cars (coach, pullman, dome, observation, slumber coach) in N scale. $5.25@.

I also have a ROWA Delaware + Hudson passenger N train set. It has Rapido couplers, but some of them no longer connect. Bad springs, etc. Have checked Hobbytown USA for either replacements or conversion to knuckle style, but no luck.

Can anyone suggest where to find? Thanks

Unimate dummy knuckle couplers are a drop in rplacement for Rapidos. They will couple to working couplers like MiicroTrains

Thanks for the redcaboose link. I’ll give it a try, but I’m kind of new to repairing/replacing couplers. When you say that you can drop i the part, what does that mean? Thanks.
