I just purchased a Con Cor 72’ Dome passenger car. I’m trying to remove the roof so I can eventually paint it. There are 4 plastic tabs under the frame similar to a Rivarossi. I know how to remove a Rivarossi shell from the frame but these look different. I can’t tell how the tabs are designed. Are they to be compressed or pulled apart for removal. Anyone have any experience in this. Thanks
On mine (89 footers) there are 6 tabs that push towards the center of the car to release the roof and window section. Start at one end and work towards the other and the roof should come off. The two center tabs may need a bit of trimming to clear the car body. J.R.
Thanks,
I’ll try that.

Well I tried playing with the tabs…but no way…so I boke the tabs off…still on tight. So what next? Well I tried to pop the roof by putting a clothes hanger wire through the bolster hole. You betcha…right thru the roof. However it is repairable. So next I started to work my way up from the bottom. Ripped out almost half the floor. Well guess what the windows HAVE TO BE WELDED on because they won’t budge. Oh well I still want a dome car, so I’ll keep my eye out for a Riverossi, those I know WILL COME APART.
