Con-Cor International HO Aerotrain

It’s nice to see that the old ‘Supertrains’ are not forgotten by manufacturers. The Aerotrain looks a great model which I will have to save for, but I think it might look a bit silly on a 5’ x 2’3" layout. Comparing it to the Spanish ‘Talgo’ nothing seems new any more.

I have seen the on in St Louis at the musem. I have shown my children pictuers of it use from our library and then the model. It is really a neat piece of history. I wish I could work in to my Penn Central plan. Keep it up MR and Concor

This ought to increase the price for Varney’s version of the Aerotrain at swap meets. Of course, the same sort of people who snapped up housing as an investment will also corral any version of the Aerotrain now that we have an expensive version from Con-Cor. Where are these guys when I want to sell my old stuff?

I pre-ordered the RI version. My Dad, who worked for the Rock, would take us to see the prototype running on the Rock’s suburban branch, along Chicago’s S. Vincennes Av. So, I have a dim memory from the early 60s. This is a great little model! ConCor includes reprints from period magazines, including Popular Mechanics and Trains that providea nice historical synopsis of both GM’s development and the Aerotrain’s deployment.

Some of the literature indicates that CN had these in their fleet. Is this available with Canadian National markings?

I still think it is one of the ugliest trains I’ve ever seen.

I am quite certain that the Aerotrain from Con-Cor will hold its value alot more than buying a house would.
IN FACT, I just bought an N scale Kato TGV for 200 bucks…the original price was 80 bucks.
SO, had I bought a thousand TGV sets I would have done MUCH better than buying a house…hehe
I am gonna be buying the N scale model AND the HO.
One to keep and one to sell when the price doubles…
Good Job Con-Cor…NOW, Go model the UP10005-6.
that is the most beautiful train ever made in my opinion.
