Con Cor N-Scale Passenger car disassembly

I have some Con-Cor N-Scale smoothside passenger cars I want to repaint in the old Central of Georgia blue and gray paint scheme. It looks as though the roof and window glazing are one assembly. When I try o lift the roof off, the ends pop up OK but the center seems to be solidly stuck to something. Since some the roofs on these models have a tendancy to bow up at each end I am reluctant to apply too much pressure. I tried pulling and prying to no avail. The floor detail, which is consentrated in a middle unit attached to the car shows not promise of coming undone either.

I started masking the windows but thought I would prevail on the great wisdom of the forum before I devote many hours to that odious task. Any suggestions or solutions?

Also, I am replacing the trucks with Microtrains 1019-s (for Con-Cor unlighted). The trial replacement seemed to go easily–not something i’ve encountered very often in the hobby. Are there any pitfalls I should look out for?

Thanks for any help offered.

ther are 2/4/ tabs sticking thru the bottom of the car that need to be released, they are right against the skirts, and are clear (window) plastic.

Thank you! Your answer has saved me a lot of grief and I appreciate it.
