I had a chance to examine and see operate one of these sets.
It looked good and ran well; however, it is typical good
quality plastic and drive, seeming to me overpriced by about
100%.

Con-Cor seems to be using the rational that these will be
collector’s items but $379? Give us a break! Should have DCC/
sound and a fourth car for that price.

M. B. Klein was offering this set for $250. I ordered one. Haven’t received it yet. In the meantime, they have taken it off their web site. Hopefully, it will be a genuine working train set for that low price.

I got my Zephyr this morning . and as today is my day off i played with it most all day.
The train detail is very good and runs very very well. athis pm i took it to my club and it passed with flying colors. Nere the end of the night i put a decoder in it and i couldnt be happier. ps yhis is my FIRST non steamer and the only deisel i own

Hi pbbuck…where did you purchase your zephyr and which brand of decoder did you install? Did you have to do anything else to it like install resistors for the lights, etc? Thanks!

i picked it up at my LHS I DID GET A GOOD DEAL THEY SELL IT FOR 269.99 , they got 4 in monday sold all 4 by today t used a digitrax dh123 w a plug pluged right in took about 5 min to install hope this helps

Thanks pbuck! That is a great deal! Could you be more specific on the decoder designation? a Digitrax DH123 what? They make several types of dh123 decoders…DH123D, DH123AT. DH123P, etc…Thanks again…

Congradulations on the discount price shopping. Because of a limited run I didn’t expect to see
any discounting so I ordered direct for $389.00 but couldn’t sleep with a 30 day warranty so I cancelled.

sorry about that i used the “P” with a med harness one cool thing is that all the interior lites wernt affected at all day 2 still love it pbuck

A member of our local HO scale club brought one last night that he had purchased through the advanced order option directly from Con-Cor. At first, it ran beautifully and has very impressive interior lighting –

however, the motor stopped dead after about 10 minutes of running. None of us could figure out what the problem was, though we knew it was nothing to do with the club layout because other trains continued to run.

So he is boxing it up and will return it to Con-Cor, and hope for the best…

Happy Ending: Since we live only 70 miles from Con-Cor’s offices in Tucson, the Zephyr was returned to them on July 20th and the owner’s wife gave him a replacement.

Then we went to a hobby shop and saw 3 sets sitting on the shelf, priced significantly lower than what he had paid by ordering directly from Con-Cor. Go figure.

Just ordered mine from RR Hobbies in Roseville, and am anxiously awaiting it. MY FIRST DISEAESEL, LOL!! YEAH!! Always liked the lines of that little devil, and now I will have one whizzing away over my Yuba River Sub. Actually, I kind of hope that Con-Cor will make the fourth coach as a pop-in addition. But oboy, that’s a cute little critter!
