Conductor Trainee advice

Im eighteen currently working for KAFB " about to be laid off" and have only had one job interview before with Los Alamos National Labs I did descent but not good enough. I received an invitation for The Realistic Job Preview & Testing session. My questions are;

  • If given the chance to have an interview what questions will I be asked?

  • What questions should I ask?

Thanks,

Casey

Casey, welcome to the Forum!

If you’re really interested in a railroad job, don’t worry about what they’ll ask you. Just go in there with a high-school diploma (or GED) and a driver’s license, and be able to provide a clean sample for drug-testing.

I would suggest you do a forum search on this site, looking for other threads for new-hires. It isn’t so much what you need to ask as what you need to know about the job. It’s a lifestyle that might be unusual for you, and if that makes you uncomfortable you might not be right for the job. It’s not for everyone.

(But it was for me, and we made it work for our family as well.)

Railroading on the Operating side takes a commitment, from the start, that is uncommon in any other private enterprise. As has been said, it is more of a way of life that it is a job. If you can’t accept the way of life the job is intolerable.
