I just wanted to tell Hawks05 how happy I am that his dad was able to make the trip to the lumberyard and he now has his bench work done. One of Hawk’s posts even said that he has TRAINS running now, and as we all know… it just doesn’t get any better than that.
I’ve been following Hawk’s story for weeks now – I’m so glad there was a happy ending!!

wow.
i don’t know how to take that. in some ways i’m sort of sorry for posting how i don’t have anything and i can’t run my trains but then i get this and its like cool someone actually is following and it seems like they aren’t mad that i’ve posted so many times about not having anything.
i knew i would get something and its not that we didn’t have money for it but its that the lumber yard closes at 5 weekdays and its not open weekends. last friday my dad had to take my mom up to the dentist and he finally got a day off so i figured why not see if he can go get stuff, and he did.
althought its just a loop its something. i haven’t had a chance to really run anything this week because i’ve had a ton of homework and i’ve had to go to some b-ball games. i plan on going to the LHS this weekend if my mom is up for it. i need to buy some turnouts and covered hoppers.
i was looking at a different topic and i hit back and saw congrats to Hawks05, i was like what did i do. i haven’t got to a milestone post count at all. and i didn’t win anything.
thank you for the congrats. i can officially say i am a model railroader, not a wannabe any more.
thanks again. now you’ll hear about how i wish i had a layout and wish i had this and that.

I knew it was never a question of money… just of your dad’s time. I know how that goes… I am never home from work before 6 or 6:30.
I just know how much I love the trains that I got for Christmas (and I’m a 51-year-old man). I just KNEW how hard it must have been for you to wait to start running yours.
Glad you are now “officially” a model railroader.
P.S. Keep posting a lot. You sound like you are as nuts about your trains as I am nuts about mine. I love seeing such enthusiasm.

its pretty cool seeing what i’ve spent a lot of my money on finally do something.
the weird thing is that my dad is older than roadtrp, not by much but he’s 52, both my parents are. ya i don’t plan on letting much get in the way of homework. i usually work out after school but if i have a lot of homework i don’t. i come home rest awhile then start my homework.
Elliot i don’t know if i’ll be going to that. i might actually be going to the hobby shop in Eau Claire this weekend. i need to get some turnouts and more kits.

Hawks If you have any models of trains your not a wannabe. As far as i’m concerened you were never a wannabe. If you ask me what a wannabe is i will say A wannabe is a person who wants to be a model railroader but wants to stay cool. And they think trains arent cool enough so they hide there hobbie. BTW congrats
Hawks05, keep on trucking. I liked the comments about homework. The better education you get the better chance you have of getting a higher paying job so you can spend more on your trains. [:)]
haha thats true. my dream job is a pro baseball player but that is pretty much out of the question. journalism is my 2nd choice. i used to slack off, well to me i was, but now i have this friend who like is really really smart so i try and do all my homework and what not so it doesn’t look like i’m a slacker and could careless. yes i’m trying to impress her. plus i need to stay on the A Honor roll to get money off of my insurance and get into college.
and yes i plan on spending a lot of what i make on trains later down the road.

By all means Congrats should got to Hawks05. I wi***hat I was in his position. I don’t have anything at the moment. I am still in Afghanistan, and I haven’t had the chance to buy anything at all yet. I might be able to get my hands on my old Tyco set if my younger cousins haven’t distroyed it yet and do something with it. I should be back in the States in about a week and a half, and then the hobby shops had better be ready for the huge profits that they are going to get from me.
Hawks, keep posting updates on you layout, and all of your modeling, because even though I am 30 I know that what you know will help me tremendously. I look forward to hearing about your progress, and maybe one day soon, I will be able to share some of mine as well.
i won’t make any threads about it but you’ll definately hear stuff in my posts.
i was going to go the hobby store today but i decided to stay home and rest. i should have gone. i’m so bored right now. i have nothing to do at all. i would run the trains but i really want to get some started on the design for the layout but i need turnouts so i can’t really do much. i have no kits to put together or anything. i was going to put together a model of a Ford F150 i had sitting around but some pieces were missing and i didn’t feel like finding the right glue. oh well next weekend my dad is going to be in Maryland for business so it will just be my mom and i at home. she already said we’re going shopping because its just the two of us.
so ya i’ll be posting about my layout from time to time, don’t worry.
