Congratulation's Bob Grech

I would like to congratulate Bob for his 3rd place finish in the small layout contest. I have injoyed his photos on this forum, and hope he keeps sharing those with us. Great job.

Larry

I would also like to offer my congratulations to Bob. I am an admirer who truly enjoys the fruits of his talent. I look at his photos and think to myself, “So this is what the work of a master model railroader looks like!”

Tom

Does anyone have a link to the photos? I really would like to see his layout.

Curt

Try this link. Do some exploring as some of the photos link you to others.

All you have to do is visit the above link to see why Bob’s layout is great.

  1. Very few layouts reach a finished look … this puts Bob’s layout in the top 10% in the world right off the bat.

  2. Even among finished layouts, few have the integrated and finely detailed look that Bob’s layout demonstrates, which puts Bob’s layout in the top 1% in the world, I would estimate.

Notice, MR does a lot of layout articles with a few closeup scenes here and there, but almost never a layout room shot because few layouts they cover are ever finished looking EVERYWHERE.

If you’ve ever built a module or a layout, you can appreciate the years of spare time effort Bob has put in to achieve this wonderful-looking layout. If his layout got third place in the MR contest, then the second and first place winners must be out of this world. It’s hard to imagine a nicer looking bedroom-sized layout.

Great work there, Bob! Your artistry in your modeling is simply fabulous. All I can say is, WOW. [swg]

Joe, your words are almost as good as Bob’s layout. Thank you both for helping all of us appreciate something truely worthy of appreciation. I agree that one of my favorite shots is the whole finished product.

Long time reader, first time poster,

At first I was/am a John Allen fan, and then John Olsen and Malcolm Furlow, now a Bob fan, his layout is simply awesome, I frequent his website quite often just to find things in the detail that I missed earlier. I love what he did to his turntable, I’m guessing its an Atlas, and plan on doing the same with mine. Too bad MR only gave it a couple of pics, it deserves a full spread.

Thank you Bob

a fabulous layout and extremely well executed… almost makes me want to model steam era trains… almost

Wow! I just went through the photos. Bob’s work is absolutely amazing! I also got several how to ideas for my own work. Joe, thanks for posting the link. Now if my MR Mag would just arrive…

This is unquestionably a beautiful layout. The overall modeling “style” and detailing really appeals to me - and is exactly what I have tried to achieve on my own layout and with my dioramas. The downside of modeling like this is that can be very, very time consuming. The fact that Bob has worked at this level and has finished his layout makes his accomplishments even more impressive.

Beautifully done, Bob, and congratulations!

congratulations bob amazing layout. very inspiring. keep up the good work. dave

All I can say is WOW!!! If I could model only 10% that good I would be very happy! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!

GUB

I just got my November MR issue in the mail yesterday and I immediately went to page 58 in great anticipation generated from these postings.

Congrats Bob.

Your attention to detail is amazing and is what makes every one of the photos such a pleasure to just sit and look at. There is so much going on it seems to be alive.

Congradulations again.

Regards,

We always knew you were good, I loved the lived in look of your layout bob. Everything reminds me of a town out west that is bustling with activity but also slow and lazy. Nice effect in everything you’ve done.

Who’s that funny looking guy on page 61? It’s Bob Grech!!! Great job Bob and congratulations! Sean
