The catch of Labor Day was a Trio of Conrail powered PPLX train heading west at CP Wing… Enjoy, Tom http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=249174
…Lots of good stuff {photos}, on here this morning and yours included Tom. Lots of {RR}, stuff in that shot.
Edit: Just noticed the river channel with it’s slopped sides as it is just like the anti flood project that was constructed thru Johnstown, Pa. way back in about '40 - '42. It did contain all the excessive water until 1977 when the wall was breached and another flood occurred in the city.
The second bridge in the background, is that a railroad bridge? It seems to look like one. However, look at how sharp the grade is to the right of the photo. That almost cannot be?

…Gabe, look again…closer. I thought the same thing but believe we’re seeing a sharp turn to the right that allows it to appear that way.
Edit: Now I’m not completely sure…I pulled the view in closer and perhaps it was {looks abandoned}, rather steep {and maybe a curve too}, on what might have been some industrial trackage…Not sure.
Nice shot! I was there about 15 years ago, and looks like a picture from that very day. Don’t recall that bridge specifically, but it looks like PennDOT issue gaurd rails on the right, and just a intersection with a road on the left, so I’d guess a standard two lane road.

Could it be a former railroad bridge that was rebuilt into something else? Lots of times around here when they convert rail lines into bike trails they rebuild some of the bridge approaches and such.
…It does appear the possibility of a former rail bridge…even maybe an interurban / streetcar structure and now possibly a Trail. The lane at the left side of the bridge appears {to me}, it might be the route off that bridge. If it would be an interurban / streetcar structure, they did tolerate steeper grades.
I wish we could see some of that CR power up here.
Nice shot! My friends were out that way this weekend, will inquire if they saw this train.
The bridge in the background is indeed a road bridge. It’s known as the Spring Hill Bridge and is a good afternoon location for shooting westbounds:

Not sure if the bridge was originally a RR bridge or not, but it certainly looks like it could have been!
My friend believes he took video of this train over the weekend, hopefully came out as good as the picture.
