it would be gray the first cr unit was painted. i know it but not off top of my head
Conrail units were painted…wait for it…Conrail Blue. Although, some of the early repaints tended towards turquoise, rather the the rich darkish blue we’ve come to know and love.

Ask me that question! Conrail started in 1976 with left over locomotives from six major railroads. At the time they were considered painting like Penn Central. Oh boy!

I dont want to here this someone else did it so i did it to stuff i have yet to have anyone come forward with hard evidance of there trashing norfolk southern or just southern railway . it seems that the 2 best railroads merged and then years later baught conrail not the other way around. on 2nd thought no need as it wont change anything the best railroad bought all that junk and we made those guys profitable again and gave them jobs,
because most of norfolk southern works call NS nazi for some reason

Yes we miss Conrail but it won’t be back. Its only up to seeing who will take over or merge with who now.

Sorry you miss old CR…from what I have learned since the breakup, glad to see that much of the CR “smoke & mirrors” upper management style is gone. (They knowingly got away with a lot of things that NS and CSX never would have and now those two are racing (still) to fix non-compliance issues found in CR’s closet)…
I don’t miss CR at all. What little the PC didn’t destroy of the PRR CR took care of. Ns saw it as their duty to obliterate anything with a past. A pox on them all. Stopped my subscriptions to magazines because I don’t care about modern stuff or Amtrash. Bring back my railroad. It’s he** to get old.
