Consistent Speed

I wrote a few posts back asking if the older Lionel stuff would run at a slower and more consistent speed with a newer transformer. I added more leads and took some advice about a central heavier gauge wire to follow my main track around and drop leads from this. After cleaning all the 1666’s and new brushes, slide shoes, etc, the things run fine! Not sure what is was, or maybe a capitulation of all the things tossed together, but they will chug around at whatever speed you wish now. Thanks to all.
2nd question. If you want to join the organization, how do you get two members to sign your application form if you don’t know anyone? No one in this area is really into trains. Thanks to all that have helped, Jake

Jake : You can look for the region you live in on the TCA site, and then call them or email the secretary or some one there & they will have a couple members contact you & send you the forms. At least that’s what they do here in my region, or maybe a couple TCA members here will send you what you need. I’m currently not a member, but was before. There’s a guy here, NStrackman that may live near you ! He doesn’t post too often though, just to let you know he may live near you, I don’t believe he’s a TCA member though.
Hope this helps !

Fred Bear, are you related to the famous hunter and archery expert with that name?

When I joined the owner of the trainstore I frequent was one sponser and he had no problem coming up with a second. As a matter of fact it was the next person to walk in the store.

Same here about the hobby shop the owner and an employee signed for me. I do think, as stated above getting in touch with the local chapter would be a great place to start and getting involved.

I got 2 to sign in my train store in a few minutes. You could also mail me your application, and I’d send it back with the 2, same day. Joe
