I am starting the planning process of designing a basement bar and would like to put a G scale train that would run along the bar (carrying drinks and peanuts, of course) - with a flexible bridge over the access area to the bar. Has anyone seen one of these done or have any advice as to who could do this?
The only one I can remember was on the Jackie Gleason show way back when…??? It was O scale and delivered drinks in the Regie Van Gleason skits.
I think you would be asking a lot to run a train along the actual bar surface without having somebody or something knock your $$$ investment off the tracks. I have seen guys set up garden railroads for entertaining, drinks, etc., but the tracks were never mounted on the serving surface. Maybe you could make a loop around the room at bar level and incorporate a “siding” where people could reach over and pick up the drinks, etc…? This way you wouldn’t have a main line on your serving area. I am sure a large scale folding bridge could be easily made…I am positive folks here would be able to point you in the right direction.
I model N scale…If I delivered drinks and peanut (s), it wouldn’t be much of a party, haha!

My bar is accessorized with pool related items. The pool area is decorated with ALL my trains on shelves along the wall and my structures along the half wall. All waiting for the layout to be done. The layout area has miscellanious decorations right now. If this is ever finished, it will be a miracle!
In the movie “Coming to America”.
can I have a sanding tower on the rocks?

Yeah, a few peanuts per car!
Perhaps a schnabel(spelling?) car would be more suitable for drinks…
MTH Coors Silver Bullet Special should definitely get your consideration. It is a show stopper, and a couple of flat cars in “O” should be capable of carrying a “HIGH-BALL” or three…
