Construction Begins

Hooray! I’ve finally started the new layout. The benchwork is done and I’m working on the splines for the mainline right now. For the next few weeks I’ll be busy with some other things, plus I can’t order my turnout kits until the end of the month. But at least I’m making progress.

Here’s a few pics. More information can be found on my site:

Hmm, it seems only the first picture I uploaded has a larger image. Well, there are two more on my site to go with this one.

Hey Randy,

Great pictures on your site and a very informative tutorial. You’ve really discovered a new approach using the OSB rather than more expensive dimensional lumber and plywood. Hopefully some younger folks with limited budgets will pick up on your approach.

By the way, see you Monday night at my house for an operating session.

Looks great!!!

You’ve got a great start on a good looking layout, Randy. Having the walls and ceiling already finished has put you leaps and bounds ahead. I like the way you used the particle board ripped to dimensional lumber size as well - good thinking, and much more economical.
