contact cement

how is contact cement with glueing two foam parts together?

I think it eats it. Take a couple of scrap pieces and give it a test, different brands may have different formulas.

Good luck,

Richard

i know its ok because my dad and i used it to glue down the cork road bed

There are many different types of contact cement. For foam, you want to get a non-solvent based product.

I’d compare the cost of contact cement to acrylic latex caulk. I’ve been able to find 4-packs of caulk at Wal-Mart for under $4.

White glue works fine too.

And it’s easy to use and clean up.

I think you would find it would make a very perminant bond, hard to reclaim track if you decided to change things later. Latex caulk can be seperated, with care.

Good luck,

Richard

I would also recommend using the caulk. Contact cement is too permanant you will destroy the foam/ cork even to make a minor change.

Use the right products and get the right results. [tup][tup]

There is a caulking out there for" foam boards", several mfgs.

There is “No More Nails” which works well and can be separated fairly easily to make corrections on track and roadbed.

Just my [2c] worth, no change expected.

Johnboy out…

got some caulking for foam. got the first mountin finish today.
