I have a question someone may be able to answer! For all the plans that get published in MR there is never any mention of a way to contact the author.I my self am building a plan that Ian Rice designed,I would like to clarify a few things but have no idea how to even get an email to him.I have contacted MR several time’s with no responce at all!Think they might offer a little support to the people that pay their pay cheque’s!!Does anyone know of how someone would go about this?
Gerry, that might not work this time, as Devin is in Canada and Ian lives in the U.K. If, however, he enclosed US$0.80, the rate from the US to the UK, they could forward it. They normally do forward letters they think will be of interest to the author anyhow. I heard from an old friend from high school when I had an article published in MR.
It is the policy of most magazines to forward letters addressed to their authors to the authors themselves. It is then up to the author to decide whether or not he or she wishes to reply. Just because someone offers an article for publication does not obligate that person to provide free advice to any and every person reading the article! So, don’t blame MR. If you wrote to Mr. Rice with the attitude that because you paid for the magazine you are entitled to personal help I do not blame him for not replying either.
Devin – I’m sure that if you put your questions in a sealed, stamped envelope addressed to Ian, and put that envelope in another addressed to MR, asking them to forward it to Ian, they’d do it. I’ve gotten in touch with several MR authors that way.
Thanks for the help with the though.
Gerry i didn’t mean it like it sounded. What i was meaning to have it say was when i send email to a company regarding forwarding of something some kind of acknowledgement from the company as to
a)We will forward this to the author.
b)This isn’t something we do.
So i know as to what has happened to the mail/email etc that i sent.Even an automated reply to show they recieved it or something.
Just my thoughts
