Contents of Woodland Scenics Clean Track Solution

I am nearly done ballasting all my track and I have started cleaning the tracks that I have ballasted. I have been using the Woodland Scenics Tidy Track system which includes their Clean Track Solution. It has appeared to do a good job removing the ballast glue, paint, and general dirt from the track. However, I am wondering what this solution consists of? Is it mostly IPA? Just curious. I can find no mention of its contents on the bottle other than it is non-toxic.

I should add that when I am done with this cleaning step using the Tidy Track system, I will do what I normally do to clean my track, that is to run my CMX cleaning car on the layout with oderless Mineral Spirits. I have found this does a good job keeping my tracks clean and improves electrical connectivity.

I realize anytime someone mentions track cleaning, it can lead to endless discussion of what is best and what is worst. I appreciate this kind of dialogue, but for now all I am interested in knowing is the chemical contents of the Clean Track Solution.

By IPA, I assume you mean isopropyl alcohol? If so, it couldn’t be labeled as non toxic. Label on botte says:

If taken internally, serious gastric disturbances will result…use only in a well ventilated area, fumes may be toxic.

Label I found on line says non toxic. And instructions do not mention any precautions.

Theoretically there should be a material safety data sheet available if there is any bad stuff in the product, but I could not find one listed.

However I don’t intend to chug the stuff.

Well, it certainly does not have a strong oder. It does not feel oily. I wonder if it could just be water with some dish soap equivalent added. It seems to work, but I am always hesitant to put anything on my track that is an unknown substance.
