Bet we will see this service fully functional there before we see any tangible construction here. (i.e. FL and CA)
So Mexico is going to have true High Speed Rail before we do. Awful, just awful.
But if it means traveling 130 miles in an hour, we are talking Northeast Corridor speeds. It will be a significant achievement, but not a Shinkansen or TGV.
I agree with John Simpson. Mexico being ahead of us would be funny if it weren’t so sad.
“Awful, just awful, funny if it weren’t so sad,”
We have what we elected. Any problem with prestige, we bear responsibility.
“we” are us, Paul Harvey said, us was U.S.
It’s, high speed rail, gone from this country, never had it, unwilling or no will to make HSR work…
Awful… you said it…precisely right!
One, still has to be built. Second, infrastructure in Mexico is still grossly underfunded that I don’t know if it necessarily a good thing when you essentially have Chinese the only bidder and most likely financing the construction if it does get built.
Built and financed by China. There’s more than meets the eye here.
Financing from various global sources is increasingly common, big deals that really aren’t a “big deal.” The Chinese hope to reap the rewards of investment in this Sino-Mex project. The Mexicans get “HSR” (actually “MSR” - “medium-speed rail”) to improve infrastructure. Why not?
Yeah, well, it became a moot point on 11/7 when Mexico pulled out with no warning and no explanations.
