Conv Classics Madison Cars - Photos

I just received my new Lionel Conventional Classics Madison cars. Thought you might like to see a few photos of them on my layout.

Jim

Those heavyweight passenger cars are real beauties, Jim.

Sweet, jimsrpo! And thank you for the pictures. Your layout has us interested in seeing more. Hope to see your pictures in the Sunday Photo Fun (SPF) thread.

Jack

Jack,

I was lucky enough to get my layout in the current issue (March) of CTT. I’ll have to get in the habit of posting more photos on the forum.

Thanks, all.[:)]

Those cars sure look nice from here. It looks like Lionel did a good job on them.

Sweet - thanks for sharing!

They look great! How do they roll? What happened to the people on board… they look a little vacant?

J. Daddy,

They have the postwar style trucks with wheels free to turn on the axles so they will require periodic oiling.

As far as the passengers are concerned, this is a remake of the original 1947 set which had no passenger silhouettes in the windows. That feature was added a few years later.

Jim

Jim :

I never liked those silhouettes … I think they look better without them . What in the world did you use for the vegetation on those walls ? Looks great and I can’t figure it out … getting a headache trying … LOL . Come on buddy share that fabulous effect .

Ole Timer,

Those vines are Woodland Scenics coarse turf. I run a thick bead of Elmers white glue in a branching pattern on the wall. Then I tamp some of the coarse turf into the glue with my fingers. For a heavy overgrowth, let dry, then repeat to add a second layer of turf on top.

The most amazing thing is that the “ivy” always seems to grow best in the places where my stonework carving was less that perfect![;)]
