Conversions of Drawings

Hi

I have some 5" Gauge (I live in Australia) Live Steam locos that my father drew and later transferred to AutoCAD that I would like to convert to Gauge 1 (1 3/4") and I was wondering how hard/easy it would be to do in AutoCAD.

Thanks
Wayne

If they are already in Cad then they are or should be full size in the computer. The issue is what ratio to either rescale the 5" gauge using the scale command or plotting the drawings at the correct scale for gauge 1, again the question is what the correct ratio would be.

easy enough in AutoCAD to scale stuff…aim for 1:32 or 1:29 for standard gauge, choose another common scale for narrow gauge so your engine plays well with others. otherwise use the track gauge (5") scale to the new track gauge (1/3/4") equals 35%

Same scale works if you are copying paper drawings.

Now that being said, you may have to be creative as some items will not scale when you are building a working model
