Converting a bi-level into a power cab, (N scale version of METRA)

Mr. LMD,

Forgive me if this info is not helpful, but here’s a try…

  1. If you want to power one of the cars, you can do it with a Bull Ant truck-motor from Hollywood Foundry:

To add pantographs, you can add use one of these units that comes closest to the prototypes appearance:

I am trying to model the Metra electric line from chicag to University park,

Pantograph ! That’s the word that I was looking for - - - LOL

Rich

i know its bold and seem crazy, but there are crazy things being built in model railroading.

Thank you but im modeling N scale and I do not know if those two links would help me.

Once again, thank you.

Glad we got on the same page, I realized later that you were thinking of the Electric lines…

Here is a link to some of the BC Rail 5000 HP EMD GFC6C units, they went electric to be able to go through all the long tunnels & not have to vent the long ones due to exhaust & emission issues. These were used in coal unit trains. This is just a taste, more out there!

OK,

Here’s an N-scale pantograph selection.

Thank you for the link

So, Mr. LMD, are you going to do it?

Rich

Yes. I have to correct my error. I do want several commuter trains, but not in the METRA colors, logo, or name. I want my trains to look like the METRA electric line, but with my railroad color scheme and logo.

But yes I will make several trains using the wheels of time bi-level undecorates. I will also add a third rail for underground stations.

I will also buy at least 2-3 Pikestuff diamond shops to make a warehouse to service and hold the freight cars.

Buy 2-3 Pikestuff, the shops, to service and houses for the commuter trains.

And 2 Pikestuff the shops for my diesel locomotives.
