Conway Scenic No. 7470 down after second run of season
When you 92 yo yup you get pretty cantankerous
It wouldn’t surprise me if this is the last we see of 7470 in the Conway Scenic. They don’t seem to have a use for it anymore.
I hope I live to 92! Realistically, an 0-6-0 is not really a road engine. Maybe YR’s 2-8-2 would be a good buy. Dunno, me. The Russian’s An-225 could deliver it to NH, as soon as the lakes freeze.
I have been on the Conway line several times. It would be a real shame for them to loose the 7470 engine.
7470 will be around and running for many more years. Remember, this locomotive was just rebuilt a couple of years ago, and brought up to latest FED standards for steal locomotives. You don’t spend that kind of money and then leave it sitting to rust, you RUN IT!!
I would like to see the road locomotive that has been sitting in the yard for eons get on the road. Money is always the issue, however it is high time that money is raised and this locomotive gets repaired.
