You know it seems almost impossible to elevate track within a short distance, ie within 3 feet from floor to a 3 foot desk. Wrong, all you need is a circular elevation structure. If any of you guys have played Final Fantasy 7 you know I am talking about. It is how the railroad runs from the slums at the bottom, to the top plate, in the city of Midgar. I recalled seeing this somewhere on the net, but have lost track. What do you call this structure and where can I purchase it.
Do you mean a helix…? If so, most people build their own, although there are some companies that advertise in MR that will custom-build them for you based on what grade, radius, and elevation you require. The helix is probably the most common way to move trains over large vertical distances in minimal horizontal space, although the disadvantage is that your trains spend a lot of time in the helix and not on the layout. Some people get creative and use their helixes for staging. As for the Final Fantasy reference, you lost me there. The only computer game I get around to playing is Call of Duty 2.
They ain’t cheap, but I suppose if you are carpentry challenged such as myself, they aren’t a bad deal.
Thats it there you go!!!
