Cool Technique to Cut Odd Shaped Subroadbed Plywood

Maybe everyone knows this technique, but I didn’t.

I needed to cut two odd shapes of plywood for my subroadbed this weekend. The first, the easier, I did my usual way. Measure, transfer, cut, then recut a few times until it fit the way I wanted it to. I was getting ready to do the second one that was quite a bit more complicated when my friend Sam said, “Why don’t you do it the way professional countertop installers do it? Get some light weight scrap pieces, lay them in place around where the plywood will go, hot glue them together, slap it down on your ply wood, draw around the outline and cut it!”

I did and it worked perfectly. One cut only for each side.

Quite cool, I thought.

You can learn a lot of stuff like that by watching “This Old House” and “The New Yankee Workshop.”

I’ve done that with cardboard.

That technique is going to save me a lot of hassles !!! Thanks for the info ![bow]
