Coos Bay Lumber SW1200

Does anyone have any information on the CBL SW’s that had the dynamic brakes? Been trying to find the information but am having a hard time finding it.

Greetings,

Do you know about Joe Fugate’s Siskiyou line Forum? If you do not here is a link.

Don’t know if if helps, but here’s a pic of one of the CBL engines that was sold. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=304245&nseq=4

And another: http://www.trainweb.org/westernrails/or/gp_1202_powers_12-29-69_spc.jpg

Joe Fugate also did an article in Model Railroad Planning 1998 which showed a pic or two of CBL SW1200’s.

Back in my HO days I built a similar example for the Union Pacific, if I recall I had one photo to go by, I removed the sloped hood from a point behind the stack to the cab front, I fabricated the DB housing from styrene after constructing a mock up to see if my guesstimation was close, cut and installed the screened opening on the side and used a Details West 36’ fan on top, lift rings and a grab iron completed the job. Not to difficuilt as all cuts were along existing body lines. I also did a similar conversion to a Athearn S12 using the same techniques.

And of course there was an article in MR some years back on SW1200s that included pix of the CBL models.

Did you still need info? I work on 2 sw1200 converted to 12-645e engines, with dynamic braking. I’m a loci technician at Simpson Timber.

yes that would be great. I to am looking at building a modern logging train.
