Correct Grand Trunk Western paint scheme???

I recently acquired an Atlas Kato GP7. The sides of the walkways and portions of the front and rear noses are painted yellow; the rest of the shell is painted an olive green. Decals bearing the words Grand Trunk Western have been applied to the sides of the walkways, and yellow numbers have been applied to the sides of the cab. Is this an authentic Grand Trunk Western paint scheme or is this a good custom paint job? Thanks.

Green and yellow were the colors GTW used along with its parent company Canadian National in the 1940’s and 1950’s era.

I did a search on railpictures.net and it came up with noting for the GP7s. But I did the search with a GP9(almost the same loco) Here’s the link. http://www.railpictures.net/showphotos.php I’m no GTW fan so I can’t help you much, wait for more replys.

There are several variations in that scheme, including the one you have.

The scheme with the walkway logo is the first paint scheme applied by GM-EMD in 1955.

It did not last long. If you set your railroad or a railroad scene in 1955 then it is right for you.

BTW it probably is set up to run long hood forward, is there an “F” by the steps at the long hood end??
