Folks, I live in a “Land of Very Rare Blue Foam”, and have just uncovered an opportunity to pick up a bunch of 2" thick 2x8 sheets of DOW Styrofoam, aka “blueboard”, the good stuff. Unfortunately, I have zero idea of what would be a good price. So if y’all could chime in with what you’ve paid, or with what the going rate is in your neck 'o the woods, I’d be mighty appreciative.
Three years ago when I purchased my last piece of those dimensions, I paid CDN$28, except it was the 1.5" thick stuff. I wouldn’t doubt that it is nearly that much in USD these days after the oil problems. But, say between USD$24-$29? As a guess…?
Blue foam averages $18 to $21 a sheet for 2 inch by 4 foot by 8 foot
Most of the suppliers here sell pink foam in the same price range

We have pink here. It’s $11 for 1" 4x8. $22 for 2" and $33 for 3". About $11/inch thickness for 4x8’s.
Lowes carries the blue 4X8 for $12 to $13 apiece. home depot carries the pink stuff, not sure about the price. Stephen
For the 2" thick blue foam 4’ x 8’ sheets, Lowe’s (here in the Tampa Bay area) sells it at $25 per sheet. The 1" sheets are considerably cheaper.
Guys,
To those of you posting those incredibly cheap prices…are they for the 1" thick sheets or 2" thick sheets?
Home Depot around Atlanta has the 2" thick Owens-Corning pink foam in 8x4’ sheets for about $25. Jamie
I just paid $13.78 each for 2" thick 2x8 Owens-Corning at Home Depot last weekend.

For a 1x6 of Foam Core Board (the white stuff) cost me $2.68 or something like that.
Since your sig asks for corrections, the white stuff and the pink or blue stuff is entirely different animals. The white stuff is a bunch of small balls or beads of styrofoam fused together. The pink/blue stuff is stronger and does not have all those little beads floating around when you cut it.
After I spent some $300.00 on all my foam I came across a mountain of the stuff at a used building supply store. It was out in the elements and varied in condition from yuk to brand new. Even the new stuff was wet, but could have been dried out. All for $.75 for a 2" 2x4 sheet. Check out the phone book for a used building materials store and give them a call.[;)]
