So there I am waiting for the NJTransit train at the Broadway stop in Fair Lawn. There is an overpass there where busy Rt.4 dips under the tracks to avoid a grade crossing and years ago I believe there was a trolley. Anyway, I am there yesterday to wait for my usual train and witness a truck piled high with large black plastic tubes, the kind used as piping, pull up. No,it isn’t low enough and bumps the trestle. Then backs up as it actually was a couple of feet too high. Apparently the driver thought he was in a fix and said the heck with it as next thing I know he guns it, rams the tubes into the bridge almost breaking the holding straps and dumping the load. Then drags the whole she-bang under the bridge scraping all the way and comes out the other side with thoroughly destroyed tubes. At least the bridge was unscathed. I wouldn’t want to explain that one. You see the strangest things sometimes.
If only that could’ve been put on youtube.
[(-D] That’s funny!![(-D]
I saw the aftermath of the same thing once. Except it was a highway overpass built with I beams, and the beams just acted like a knife. It peeled the top of that ADS pipe (Plastic Culvert) All the way back, and he stopped and picked up the pieces and threw them on the truck and cotinued on to the location where I happened to see him.
