Couple NCE questions

Hey Folks,

First does anybody know when the “Switch8” Decoders are going to be shipped? The NCE website says they are but nobody has them anywhere.

Second, Would the Cab04e or Cab04p be better for dedicated switching Cab/throttle?

What is the diference other then the “E” costs more then the “P”

Thanks!

The switch 8’s, I would suggest contacting a large dealer, like TTX for. As far as the cab04e vs p. Cab04E has push buttons for speed increments, while the Cab04P uses a potentiometer (knob). I’ve used both and prefer the Cab04P for switching, as I can get a better feel for speed and faster control with a knob.

I want to know if the RXE will be shipped PDQ and if they will send it COD or if the NFL can be merged with the NBA. I want to see if I can PUL UR LEG on a 4-1 and get a NOTE4 MIE E FORTS

Umm ok…

Walter,
The label says “Smoke fluid”.
Thats what you use it for, to put in the locos!
It doesn’t mean thats what you do with it!
The directions are on the OTHER side of the label!!![:0]

Repairman,

What Karl says about the CAB-04p and 04e is correct: “p” stands for potentiometer; “e” stands for “encoder”.

Another thing worth mentioning and is a nice feature about the CAB-04s, is that you can program them and use them in what’s called “yard mode”. With the 04p, your center position (12 o’ clock) becomes the neutral or off position. Rotate the knob (or potentiometer) CW and your locomotive goes forward; CCW and your locomotive goes backward. A VERY nice feature when switching and moving cars around your yard.

WARNING: The one thing you MUST remember with the 04p is that when you switch your throttle out of “yard” mode and back into “regular” mode, you have to “zero” the knob all the way CCW left BEFORE entering the number to switch it back. Otherwise, when you press “0” to return it to regular mode, your locomotive will take off down the track lickity split because the center position is now 50% power. (I found that out the hard way. [:(] ) For some reason NCE doesn’t mention that in the CAB-04p literature. [%-)]
